DESCRIPTION:https://downtownsailing.org/event-477661\n\n\n     This course is designed to advance the skills of sailors with some experience\, as well as to teach them the skills needed to become a DSC skipper*. An Intermediate Sailing course consists of one full weekend\, Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 4:30 PM. An experienced instructor and up to four students are on the water in a Sonar or J/22. Sonars are 23-foot keelboats and J/22s are 22-foot keelboats\, both of which are safe (non-capsizable)\, comfortable and fun.\n\n    Prerequisites: Knowledge and skills covered in Introduction to Sailing.\n    *Students who successfully complete an Intermediate Sailing course should spend at least 20 hours on the water actively practicing before scheduling a skipper check-out.\n    \nCurriculum\n                               * Introduction to the DSC\n\n                * Boat Control\n\n                *                  * True vs. Apparent Wind\n\n                    * Sail Trim\n\n                    * Getting Out of Irons\n\n                    * Accidental Jibing\n\n                    * Excessive Heeling\n\n           \n\n                * Rules of the Road\n\n                            * Docking\n\n                * Quick-turn Overboard Recovery\n\n                * Heaving-to\n\n                * Hypothermia\, Heat Exhaustion and Stroke\n\n                * Knots\n\n                \n
