Downtown Sailing Center

VOLUNTEERING

The Downtown Sailing Center has grown into an amazing organization thanks to our dedicated corps of volunteers. We depend on an active membership to help with a variety of events and activities -- from boat maintenance to after-school sailing instruction.

If you share a passion for a particular program, or just love hanging out at the DSC during the summer, check out the many areas where your contribution can make a difference:

Work Parties

We have work parties throughout the year, where volunteers help with a bulk of the operations. For example, prepping and launching the boats, dock maintenance, boat rigging and repair, and storing the boats for the winter. Thanks to this sweat-equity program, we are able to reduce staff and minimize costs, which translates into low annual membership fees and increased outreach programs. What's more, it's fun and flexible. If you want to sleep in and just work an hour or two, that's fine. If you want to work all day, great! At our work parties, a chore is no longer a chore, it's a party. Check the calendar for work party dates.
