advanced (Racing) Camp!

ADVANCED: (Ages 12-16), 4 Week Program

MUST HAVE GRADUATED INTERMEDIATE WITH THE US SAILING BASIC KEELBOAT CERTIFICATION

Our Advanced Camp builds on all of the fundamentals learned from Intermediate. Week One will have a Coach onboard for a quick review of safe boat handling, and to jump into the details of spinnaker use. Weeks 2-4 Campers will be coached from a nearby powerboat as they learn advanced skills through drills and exercises focusing on:

  • Proper Sail Trim and Shape
  • Roll Tacking / Weight Placement
  • Spinnaker Sets / Douses, Gybing
  • Racing Rules
  • Advanced Tactics
  • Starting Methods
  • Practice Racing
  • Team Racing

In this program, campers will develop the knowledge base and skill sets needed to sail competitively. They’ll gain hands-on experience as both Skipper and Crew in a fun, competitive, and analytical sport.

REQUIREMENTS:

Advanced Campers must have completed the Intermediate Camp at the Downtown Sailing Center. All graduates from Intermediate will have received a US Sailing Basic Keelboat Certification.
