Summer Camp Sailing Instructors

Pay: $16-20 per hour, with opportunities for end-of-season bonuses and pay increases for returning staff

Camp Dates: June 22 - August 21 (plus one week of training before camp starts)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Start Date: June 15, 2026 (training week)

Reports to: Lead Sailing Camp Instructor

Requirements

• Experienced sailor with a passion for teaching 
• Reliable team player who can commit to the full camp season and training week (exceptions considered with advance notice) 
• Enthusiasm and ability to create a fun and safe learning environment

Responsibilities

• Implement and further develop the DSC Racing Camp curriculum. 
• Lead on-the-water drills and racing instruction. 
• Manage Racing Camp instructors. 
• Operate a powered safety boat. 
• Coordinate with the Lead Camp Instructor on safety and weather decisions. 
• Enact Emergency Action Plans and file incident reports as needed. 
• Ensure compliance with ACA standards. 
• Report daily to the Camp Administrator.

Training Provided

• One week (40 hours) mandatory staff training (June 15–19) 
• US Sailing Basic Keelboat Certification 
• Maryland Safe Boater License 
• First Aid, CPR, AED 
• Emergency Action Plan training
