This no-cost, volunteer-run program allows individuals with disabilities to experience the freedom of sailing and learn to sail.

Sailors come to the Downtown Sailing Center (DSC) and are assisted, guided, coached and often accompanied by a tireless group of volunteers, friends and family.

No experience is necessary, and many complete novices are able to solo sail (if they want to) on their first or second time out in our small, beautiful and non-capsizable Access dinghies.

Our two boat choices are "Access Dinghy" and "Sonar Keelboat." The Access Dinghy is good for those who lack trunk support or need to be transferred by one of our Hoyer lifts. The Sonar is good for families and individuals who have good trunk support.

Also new this year, please indicate what side your sailor wants to sit on the boat. For Access Dinghies, the steering device is in the middle of the boat between the sailors; for the Sonar, the steering device is in the back of the boat and sailors will either steer with their right or left hand.
