The Downtown Sailing Center

The Downtown Sailing Center (DSC) is an award-winning, nonprofit 501 (c)(3) community sailing center offering sailing instruction and access to sailing to the greater Baltimore community since 1994. We are located in the heart of Baltimore at the Baltimore Museum of Industry, within easy walking distance from the Downtown, Federal Hill, South Baltimore, Riverside, and Locust Point neighborhoods. The DSC is a certified Community Sailing Center and accredited Sailing School through US Sailing, the national governing body of sailing. 

Camp

Downtown Sailing Center summer camps are American Camp Association accredited, and offer one and two week opportunities for youth aged 8-16 from June 17 through August 23rd. Basic and Intermediate camps teach the joys of navigating wind and water in historic Baltimore Harbor while also instilling confidence and promoting teamwork skills. We have an excellent student to staff ratio of 4:1 for attentive and personalized instruction from our US Sailing certified staff instructors! Fees range from $450 to $550 per week.

Adult Ed 

Whether you are at the beginner level, looking for basic keelboat classes, or aiming to advance your sailing skills with our performance sailing class or bareboat cruising, we have a class tailored for you at every stage of your sailing career. As an accredited US Sailing educational provider, DSC offers a comprehensive curriculum to assist every student in achieving their sailing goals. Our commitment to education extends beyond the water, with on-land classes designed to help understand weather and navigation.  Off the water education is available year-round, on the water sessions are held April through September.

Membership

Looking to become part of a diverse and inclusive community? The Downtown Sailing Center offers affordable memberships for sailors of all skill levels.  Annual memberships are a great way to meet a diverse and inclusive community, continuously hone and improve your seamanship, and enjoy the beauty and freedom of Baltimore's Inner Harbor and Patapsco River. No sailing experience necessary, as there are mentoring options built into membership!
